We teach the "Bridges" class to help those who would like to be as effective as possible in their efforts to love and assist these neighbors. We facilitate the Getting Ahead workshop for those who are tired of the struggle of instability. This involves folks in poverty but also well into middle class. This struggle is largely because the math doesn't work and the bills are difficult to manage, especially when something unexpected crops up. We are excited about the progress these Getting Ahead graduates are making.
We have recently launched what we call the Neighbor Network. It provides a supportive atmosphere to facilitate removal of the obstacles faced be individuals in their efforts to achieve their vision of a better future. Much of the content of these meetings are practicing skills and more in-depth learning on topics of the groups choosing.
In addition to the above, we speak in a variety of forms to help our community understand just how difficult the situation of instability is for those in our county and the exciting opportunities to address this issue. We also facilitate a shared database for those providing assistance to our neighbors. This shared database facilitates communication and also provides the data that will assist us in county wide efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our assistance to our neighbors.
